ABSTRACT

The Gibbs Ensemble was introduced by A. Panagiotopoulos [1] to conveniently model the coexistence of two phases in equilibrium-having the same pressure and chemical potentials. It mimics the coexistence of two phases, a liquid and its vapor in a closed vessel. In this case the total volume occupied by the two phases and the total number of particles are constant, but the particles are allowed to transfer between the phases.
