In mid-1995, the Australian Financial Review ran a front page story about 'the biggest leak in Australian Government history' (Wallace, 1995, pp I, 14). Thousands of computer files from the Department of the Attorney-General had been leaked to Senator Amanda Vanstone, the then Liberal Shadow Attorney-General. After reading some of the files to confirm their provenance, Vanstone presented the disks to the head of the Attorney-General's Department.
