ABSTRACT
With the development of mining equipment and advanced mining technology, mining areas in China are becoming larger and larger, and several large surface mining areas have been developed since 1980s with the production rate more than 10 Mt/a. Since the increasing demand for coal resources, the trend to enlarge the production of the existing mines and its mining areas is escalating in recent years. Using the marginal analyses method, the determination of reasonable production rate of the large mining areas is offered with the case study from the economic point of view.
