ABSTRACT

During the past years, the searchers have developed different methods to estimate rock fragmentation due to blasting. One of the methods widely used is image analysis. This method was applied in Gol Gohar iron mine located in Kerman province, south-west of Iran. 15 blasts were studied in which 10 blasts were in oxide ore and 5 blasts were in bottom ore. Totally, 500 photos were obtained and analyzed by Gold Size software and particles size distribution curve were traced. According to these analyses, 15–20% of muck pile particles in oxide ore and 25–15% of them in bottom ore have a dimension under 20 cm. Since particles sizes after primary crushing is under 20 cm, the installation of grizzly can be justified especially in the bottom.
