ABSTRACT

The finite element method (FEM) for simulating of in-mine DC electrical methods is developed in this paper. To divide the solution domain into tetrahedral elements can make the modeling of complicated geo-electrical structures be very easy. Cholesky’s incomplete decomposition method is used to solve the finite-element equations. The numerical examples show that the new algorithm proposed in this paper has a high precision, and the DC electrical response is well agreed with the orientation of the 3-D object in a layered earth. Therefore, with different orientation of the explored object, the proper choice of measurement station is necessary.
