ABSTRACT
Students tend to compartmentalize topics and in many ways simple systems thinking tends to foster this. It is important at an early stage to develop interrelationships between systems. The Nile watermanagement case study is a good example of the consideration of a number of systems, often considered from a multidisciplinary perspective. Thus, the instructor should highlight how a variety of Earth science disciplines combines with engineering, politics and economics to provide an integrated management policy.
