ABSTRACT
The record of an archaeological excavation consists of four major elements: the written record, the drawn record, the photographic record and the materials taken away from the site, that is, the 'finds' consisting of artefacts, ecofacts and environmental samples. Finds will be considered further in Chapter Eight.
