ABSTRACT
To the public, they are known usually as ‘call-boys’. Local gay slang has developed different descriptors, usually a play on the term call-boy: callbam, shobam and sholing. Other terms have emerged, sometimes coined among sex workers themselves, terms such as escorts, guest relations officers and entertainers. Public awareness of male sex work in the Philippines comes from media coverage, in print as well as on television.
