ABSTRACT

Since any pathology in the brain may manifest clinically with seizures, investigation for the underlying cause of seizures is essential in all individuals presenting with epilepsy.

Epidemiology

Epilepsy has an incidence of about 5/1000. Men and women are affected equally. There are two age peaks of onset of epilepsy. Most cases present in childhood or adolescence but new cases also appear in elderly people, due to their higher incidence of brain metastases.
