ABSTRACT
Every student should be able to elicit a history asking about the salient features of pain:
• site • character (e.g. sharp, stabbing, colicky, dull, aching, tightness) • time and nature of onset • severity (e.g. marks out of 10) • progression • duration • radiation • precipitating/aggravating factors • relieving factors (including analgesia).
