ABSTRACT
Herbal medicinal products (HMPs) are medicines that exclusively contain plant material. Single chemicals isolated from plants (e.g., morphine) are not considered to be HMPs. HMPs usually contain several pharmacologically active constituents, and most herbalists believe that they act synergistically to achieve healing. With many HMPs it is not known what these constituents are.
