ABSTRACT

Among the patients enrolled, select features are provided in Table 1. Overall, the 30 day rates of stroke, myocardial infarction or death in the three phases of the study were 7.6, 8.6, and 8.3%. For stroke and death alone, they were 6.3, 6.8, and 7.6%. Among patients classified as having a ‘‘minor stroke’’ at day 30, all the patients had a NIH stroke scale score of 0 or 1 at 12 months, suggesting that these did have persisting functional consequences. Between days 31 and 365, only 1.1% of patients in ARCHeR 1 and ARCHeR 2 had an ipsilateral stroke. Fewer than 3% of the patients underwent a repeat revascularization procedure in the first year for the treated vessel.
