ABSTRACT
It is true that no clear-cut definition of the term mercantilism has ever existed but only a series of mercantilistic principles which, at different periods and with varying intensity, were manifested in the way economic policy and economic legislation were conducted. But for that very reason, the practical policy of the eighteenth century can be seen as a continuation of the policy implemented in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
