ABSTRACT

Complications associated with endovascular stent-graft repair of thoracic aneurysms include anatomical as well as device-related problems. The consequences related to anatomy include issues with access during and following endograft insertion, endoleaks resulting from poor stent-graft fixation or persistent collateral flow within the excluded segment, ischemia following interruption of excluded aortic branch vessels, and the host inflammatory response to the endograft (1-10). Device-related complications include stent fractures as well fabric breakdown, which may ultimately result in device-related endoleak (11). These endovascular-related complications are the focus of this chapter.
