ABSTRACT

Since the publication of The Newly Qualified Teacher's Handbook, and taking on the role of online agony aunt for newly qualified teachers (NQTs) on the teacher recruitment website www.eteach.com, I have been asked countless questions about the finer details of the first few years in the teaching profession. Everything from interview nerves to first day jitters, induction observations to managing stress and much more has been covered in questions from NQTs and soon-to-be NQTs. While some of those asked have been straightforward to answer, others have been intractable and complex, requiring ongoing support and, in some cases, extensive research to resolve.
