ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the questions that typically arise when new teachers take their first steps in the career with qualified teacher status. If the teacher's are in a year group or in a house system there are likely to be other more experienced tutors who can support them through their first term as a tutor and beyond. The Career Entry and Development Profile is a collection of online materials that have been designed specifically to help trainees and newly qualified teachers (NQTs) to think about their professional development as a teacher. Basically, the intention is for NQTs to make connections between their training and their induction. Inspection is not all about endless preparation and paperwork. It is about finding out how school is functioning, how well the children are learning and the teachers are teaching, and what progress it has made since the last time it was inspected, among other things.
