ABSTRACT

The problems associated with building services are addressed in this chapter. It discusses the typical defects that can occur with installations and plant that service buildings.

Failures in building services seem to lack the journalistic appeal of those affecting flat roofs. Probably, they are fewer in number, anyway, and are characterised more by a falling-off in performance than by total failure. However, some problems have been significant and relate either to heating or to plumbing and drainage.
