ABSTRACT
Respiratory distress, including adult respiratory distress syndrome, secondary to ascitic fluid accumulation and pleural effusion, has been described. Aspiration of ascitic and pleural fluid usually relieves symptoms – as well as the other management strategies for treating OHSS (see later). An actual case of acute hydrothorax, presenting as the only manifestation of the OHSS, after IVF treatment, has been reported43.
