Primary schools will have been buying computers over the past ten years under the influence of the Department of Trade and Industry which offered schools 50 per cent discounts on certain makes; LEAs who attempted to create homogenous provision of machines across all primary schools in the county in order to simplify software purchase, training and technical issues; and the individual preferences of headteachers and previous coordinators. The constraints of money, technical know-how and security issues will also have contributed to the particular pattern of provision you will find in your school. It is unlikely that you will be the sole decider about any possible future purchases but you will want to present an opinion to show that you are on top of the job you have been given.
