ABSTRACT
As long as there have been projects, there have always been processes of planning and controlling construction projects, from simple notes, through bar charts and basic reactive techniques, to the relatively sophisticated graphical methods exemplified by the Empire State Building project (see page 7). However, it is only within the last fifty years that quantitative methods for project analysis and scheduling have been developed and documented, and particularly those supported with computerisation.
