ABSTRACT
There is risk here of anachronism, as Christianity was very much a late arrival on the Near Eastern scene. It makes some sense, however, to try to see what, if anything, of Egypt, Iran and Mesopotamia ‘entered’ Judaism and, later, Christianity.
