ABSTRACT
Before returning to the question of NGO management per se, the following two chapters explore the background to the current policy interests in development NGOs, and the concepts which are now being used to understand and analyse them. In our conceptual framework (Figure 1.1), we need to begin understanding the context in which NGO management can be located.
