ABSTRACT

A Passenger ship engaged on voyages, any of which are long international voyages is required to be equipped as follows:

(a) Lifeboats, partially or totally enclosed, on each side for 50% of the total number of persons the ship is certified to carry. The figure may be reduced to 37 1/2% with the remaining 25% made up with liferafts served by launching appliances evenly distributed on both sides of the ship.
