Lastly UK courts may, on occasion, make reference to cases from foreign jurisdictions although they can never be more than persuasive: it was of course Griggs v Duke Power Co. 401 US 424 (1971) which was a formulative influence on the definition of 'indirect discrimination' in the 1976 Act.
