ABSTRACT
From a sociopolitical perspective, history can be viewed as a succession of unifying and diversifying events. Solidarities and loyalties adhere and then shatter, generating new communities with new loyalties. This ebb and flow results when the balance of power shifts from one sphere to another, creating inequalities between groups and individuals in a constantly changing world.
