ABSTRACT
By the eve of the millennium, the struggle to "restore the crest of the Golden-drake" had reached a turning point. Following the 1995 NMSPSLORC ceasefire, the Mon nationalists faced new challenges. If the hamsa was to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of the civil war, the movement would have to adapt to the changing realities of modern Burma.
