Tradition versus ideology as a mode of political communication in Iran

The lack of political development in Iran has been most often analysed in terms of the inadequate institutionalization of channels of participation and their lack of autonomy from the despotic state.5 The implications are that there is a poorly developed party political structure and an absence of a 'public sphere' of political debate.6 Thus issues of political organization cannot easily be separated from issues of political communication and its particular form and orchestration in Iran.
