ABSTRACT

In describing the life process of an individual and then the family system we must set out the following stages: birth day, the full month and the first year after birth, weaning, the formation of playmates, going to school, adulthood, marriage, fatherhood, old age, death and burial. In my village, Pai-tang, when a child is born, there is a ceremonial feeding called 'kai-kou' which consists of opening the baby's mouth and giving it a few drops of water.
