ABSTRACT
Thegranitedoorwayleadsintoasquarecourt(A), oneverysideofwhichwasarowofcolossalOsiridsofthe King,sculpturedinsandstone;thewholeoftheupper partofeachstatuehasbeendestroyed,sothattheyare nohigherthanthepartlydemolishedwalls(pl.X). Onlythelowerpartsofthewallsremain;thesearedecoratedwithlistsofthepeoplesconqueredbyRamesesin hisvictoriouscampaigns,andinallprobabilitytheupper partalsoshowedscenesfromthecampaigns.Representationsofagreatprocessionshowpriestsandtempleofficialsleadingsacrificialanimalsandcarryingofferings, whilesoldiersandprisonersofwarescorttheroyalchariot. Theanimalsaredrawnwithgreatspiritandaccurateobservation,thefatoxenwithup-curvedhoofsandthemajok-ox withoneartificially-crumpledhornareworthnoting.
