Thisisnottobelittletheimportanceoflocaltraditionreported bythepeopleofBahrainthemselves.ButasfarasisknownonlyAlNabhanirecordedanyofthisinhishistoryofBahrain.3Compared withthewritingsofaneyewitness,suchrecordsarenotas authoritativeandmaybeopentocriticism.Consequentlythevalue ofthewritingsofthemembersoftheAmericanArabianMission whilestationedinBahrainbetween1900andthebeginningofthe SecondWorldWarcannotbeexaggeratedanddeserverespect.
