WiththeadventofthePortugueseintheIndianOcean,and furthereast,thetradeinChineseporcelainbecameentirely dominatedbythem.JustascanbefoundinBahrain,thereare quantitiesofChineseblue-and-whiteofthesixteenthandseventeenth centurytobepickedupinIndia.Suchblue-and-whiteexportwareis oftenassociatedwiththePortuguesesettlementsandforts;the classicinstanceofthisisGoa,wherepartsofthetownarelittered withsherds;similarmaterialcanbefoundatChaul,southofBombay, andindeedatanyofthePortuguesesites.
