Soforthesereasonsamongstothers,therewereviolent revolutionarymovementsinbothsouthernIraqandBahrainduring thisperiodandthereafter.SomeofthesewereledbytheKharijites whofoughtfanaticallytothedeath,orby'professional'warmongers. Therewerealsoafewgroupsofguerillaswhohadlostaclearideaof IslamiclifeasIslamdefinesit.Theystoodonthebrinkofdangerwith theirenemiesandalwaysmaintainedtheirownspecialunderstandingofmattersofreligion,andapartfromthatnothingelsewas importanttothem.69
