ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter I looked at teachers working in team teaching arrangements - in other words, teachers working with other teachers. In this chapter I examine teachers working with non-teachers. I shall look at three kinds of situation in which teachers are working with non-teachers in what I shall call heterogeneous teams: first, I shall examine teams in which teacher aides and teacher assistants are found; second, I shall look at the teams that are found in special education; and third, at teams in which parents are working alongside teachers.
