ABSTRACT

IN the last number of the J.E.A., pp. 199-206, when pointing out the resenlblance between the object on the head of a goddess in the famous birth-scene at Deir el-Ba1)ri, and the Mulongo of the king of Uganda, I referred several times to an article by Miss MURRAY and Dr SELIGMAN (Man, 1911, No. 97), in which they show that the beliefs and practices of the Baganda with regard to their king's placenta are remarkably paralleled among the Ancient Egyptians. I hope that this article of Inille, which was suggested by certain statements of Professor SETHE in his contribution to BORCHARDT'S Das Grabdenkmal des Konigs Sa~u-re, II, p. 77, will still further confirm Miss MURRAY and Dr SELIGMAN'S theory.
