ABSTRACT
Owing to the prevailing climatic and geographical conditions the entire watersupply of Egypt is derived from the river Nile. When the weather is hot, the modern Egyptian bathes at least once a day either in a bath in his house or else in the river or a canal. The heat and dust combined make washing essential for health and comfort. Washing, therefore, must have been one of the common acts of daily life in ancient no less than in modern Egypt.
