ABSTRACT
Is there any possibility that the centre of scientific activities will shift to Japan? The aspect of centre shift varies depending upon the kind of science, public, private or academic. Furthermore, public policy within a national administrative boundary is not the sole determinant of centre shift, but the individual migration of scientific workers is equally a decisive factor. In this section we postulate possible trends in the future.
