ABSTRACT

International Japanese hotels in Tokyo are very well equipped with all the amenities. Additional to the shopping arcades, there are Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian, steak, sea-food and snack restaurants. There are all business services - secretarial, telex, fax, photocopying, etc. There is a swimming pool, indoor tennis, sauna and massage service available to guests. In the central hall, all year round, there is a tree in blossom. It lasts a week and then an expert team come in, take it out, and another is erected. All come from the hotel's own greenhouses. Room service arrives speedily, and is impeccably served. The Tokyo air was polluted, and a new smell added to the carbon dioxide, that of burnt propane. The taxis, and many private cars, were operating on propane (LP-gas) instead of petrol; the exhaust is supposed to be less toxic and certainly smelled better.
