ABSTRACT
Introduction In this chapter I will focus on rowzeh and jaleseh3 (hereafter referred to simply as rowzeh), the religious meetings of women, and their interrelated activities. I will refer specifically to the following points: (1) the networks of religious organisation; (2) the symbolic nature of Islamic rituals; (3) the Islamic ideas and its content, and the transmission of Islamic knowledge.
