ABSTRACT

In the second volume of Frits Staal's monumental Agni appears an article by C.G. Kashikar and Asko Parpola, 'Srauta traditions in recent times'.' It includes a state-by-state catalogue of ahittlgnis and srauta sacrifices with maps locating their villages and towns. Described by the compilers as a pilot list, this indispensable resource is a measure of the extent of surviving Vedic ritual and textual traditions toward the close of the twentieth century.
