ABSTRACT

There is not much difference outwardly, however, between the Arabs here and those we have seen in the south. The Ameer, to whom we had sent a courier with a note, had one of his men direct us to our camping-place, a very pleasant spot surrounded with athls and palms, where he had already dispatched wood for our fire, a sheep for our supper, and fodder-dry grass-for our camels. A worthy beard who came later in the evening to say salaam and to inquire of Hazlul about the Shioukh, the rain, the pasture, and other topics of the day. He also smoked the cigarette which the Chieffolded and presented to him.
