ABSTRACT

In order to give the impression that the water is continuous, ponds or small lakes are formed in curving lines so that from no one point the entire stretch of water can be seen. Trees are placed in various locations to screen portions of the water and carry out further the illusion of vastness. There are several choices in the kind of water effect desired, swamps, lakes, or even the seashore. When a shore line is to be made, sand is placed in a crescent shape along the edge of the water; if it is a dry lake, water is represented by sand.
