We on our side are taught that woman was a kind of afterthought in the creation of the world. This feeling has remained in the East. Invite a man and his wife to dine with you, and the wife arrives about ten minutes after the master of the house, her husband, has arrived. She gives him time to be asked to be seated and to receive all the greetings proper to his place, before she arrives. Such is the old way, now fast passing out with the improved position of woman under college education. The husband always precedes his wife, the man always goes ahead of the woman in entering a room
