ABSTRACT

Measurement of hillslope form can be defined, in geomorphological terms, as the task of extracting geomorphologically useful information from a three-dimensional shape. The information has been obtained either from field survey or from analysis of maps and aerial photographs. A distinction has been drawn between measurement of features that extend over large distances (macroform) and those that extend for only small distances (microrelief). Measurement of the latter is undertaken by field survey.
