Its remarkably vivacious record of travel presents a picture of an Egypt which is rapidly passing away, and which in a few years will have entirely ceased to exist, while its place is taken by the modern, self-governed Egypt, which mayor may not be more prosperous and contented, but will certainly be a great deal less picturesque.
