ABSTRACT
Dick Tracy proved to be the most popular detective to appear in a movie serial. The character was so well-received, in fact, that Republic Pictures starred him in a quartet of some of the most popular chapterplays of the era—Dick Tracy (1937), Dick Tracy Returns (1938), Dick Tracy’s G-Men (1939), and the last of the series, Dick Tracy vs. Crime, Inc. (1941).
