ABSTRACT

During the 20th century the marital structure of the population in the USSR was greatly influenced by socioeconomic changes caused by forced industrialization, urbanization, and the modification in rural life-styles in the early 1930s. World War I, the revolution and the years following the civil war, and World War II altered the marital structure. The marital structure of the population was affected by deformations in the sex structure of the population, the result of losses during the wars.
