ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to assess the social status of women in Russia and the other republics of the USSR. The underlying factors of the ongoing political, social, and economic restructuring processes are studied. The existing social and professional mobility of spouses are analyzed, and the theoretical and methodological base for the solution of the so-called women’s question is considered.
