ABSTRACT
GERMANY'S demand for the return of the colonies which she held before the first World War was an important factor in AngloGerman relations in the 1930's. It was to Britain that Germany addressed herself, although many of her former possessions were held as mandates by Dominions of the British Empire-South Africa, Australia and New Zealand-and by other countries such as France, Belgium and Japan.1
