ABSTRACT

Most of us are quietly confident that we can assess people. We like to believe that we are good judges of character. Unfortunately, it is a fact that we tend to judge people on the basis of characteristics that we actually invent for them. This is human nature for it is often difficult for us to stand back and view individuals impartially, and without making judgements which are based on our own experience and learned behaviour. Because of this the traditional method of choosing people is flawed. The method commonly used is to advertise, sift applications, interview, select and appoint.
