ABSTRACT
In our country there are three currents of thought. When we study their history, we see that in the beginning our thinkers realized the need for modernization. The current of thought in that direction, which originated during the reign of Selim III [1789-1807], was followed later by another-the movement toward Islamization. The third, the movement of Turkism, has come forth only recently.
